Many of the documents available on this website for online reading or downloading are saved in Adobe Acrobat (v3.0) format. Reading Acrobat files requires a program called "Acrobat Reader" which is available free from the Adobe website. If you have Adobe Reader installed on your system, you will be able to read the 1917 articles and other documents while you are online. Otherwise, you can only download the Acrobat (*.pdf) files to your hard drive and then read then later when you have access to a computer with Acrobat Reader installed.

Also, due to the length of some of these documents, it is necessary to "zip" these files to save on transfer time. These "zipped" files (*.zip) can be "unzipped" by using the DOS-based PKZIP/PKUNZIP programs or with Windows-based applications like Winzip.
